UNSW industrial design student life

Uni and work has been emotional roller coaster, sometimes I feel like quitting uni is an easier option but I know i cant, uni is too important. These few weeks I've been able to talk and express my feelings to numerous people, my age, older or a stranger. I've been able to tell them my worries, fustrations and ive been questioning whether to quit uni. from talking to numerous people alot of weight has been lifted off my shoulders, no longer hiding my fears. Surprisingly but most comfortingly, most responses are "i have thought about quitting uni too." But quitting is the easier option, so if you to be brave, you should stay.

Industrial design or any design course is not for the faint hearted, there for those that want to push to the extreme, take on challenges and are willing to pay the price to jst get that pass mark of 50%.

From first to second year, the time allowance for one project shortens by half the time. You need to be prepared, focused and most importantly be brave and independent. Be prepared to be brought down, to fail, to improve and be prepared for stress, late nights and pulling your hair out. Be focused on the task at hand, the more focused into what your doing, the more better the outcome. You need to be brave because people will shut down your good ideas and you need to fight for them. You need to be independent because you can't become a good designer if your following someone else's beliefs or design principles that aren't what you believe.
